Every Reader started with one little girl who loved big stories.
When Anna was learning to read, she faced a challenge many dyslexic children know all too well. While other children her age were reading independently, Anna struggled with the basics. She worked hard through a structured reading program and finally started reading at age 7—a victory worth celebrating.
But then came another challenge.
Anna's brain was ready for complex, exciting stories appropriate for her age. She wanted adventures, interesting characters, and plots that captured her imagination. But the books at her reading level? Anna called them "baby books." And she was right—they weren't challenging her mind, just her reading skills.
The books written for 7-8 year olds had the stories Anna craved, but the sentence structures and vocabulary were still beyond her grasp. She was caught in an impossible middle: too advanced for simple readers, but not quite ready for age-appropriate books.
What if we could take those exciting, age-appropriate stories and adapt them to Anna's current reading level? What if she could read about adventures and mysteries using sentences and words she could successfully decode? What if reading level and story complexity didn't have to match?
For years, adapted books have existed, but creating them the traditional way is expensive and time-consuming. A publisher might create one or two simplified versions of a popular book, but rarely more.
